Congratulations To This Year's Winners of The Zach Rowell Scholarship
A big congratulations is in order for Chase Coulter, Ian Clausen, Naomi Sensing, and Chloe Ray who have been selected as this year's recipients of the Zach Rowell Scholarship in honor of Mrs. Melissa Cole.
Each year, 9th - 12th grade students, currently in the REACH program, are given the opportunity to apply for the Zach Rowell Scholarship which provides a $500 scholarship applied to REACH cost for 2 years. REACH is Hartfield's student services program which includes Dyslexia Therapy, Classroom Accommodations, Learning Strategies, and Tutoring Services that are targeted to meet a student’s individual learning style. "We recognize that students will often exceed expectations when they are given the support they need to reach their fullest academic potential."
Courtney Anders, Director of Academic Programs and Hartfield’s REACH Director, shares “I am thankful for the Rowell family who makes this scholarship possible to our High School students receiving REACH. Their generosity allows the REACH members to pour into our students to help them reach their full potential, while also seeing the Lord has a special purpose with the gifts He has given them. Our REACH team works daily to instill truth and come alongside each of these students.”
The application process includes questions about future goals, how REACH has helped them in their learning, what is their learning difference, and are aware of their needs to advocate for themselves. Among several great applicants, Chase, Ian, Naomi, and Chloe were chosen to receive this honor. “This year's applicants were tough to decide from. Our committee prayed over each and wish we could’ve given each applicant something. However, our committee was impressed with four of the students' applications and feedback from their teachers and coaches. Over the years I have seen these four grow, not only academically, but spiritually and with confidence in who God has created them to be. The students selected all have stepped out of their comfort zone this year to try something new, to advocate for their learning, and a motivation to learn with confidence believing in their selves. I am proud of these four to represent this scholarship this year. These four also show such respect and gratefulness for the REACH members that help them daily.” shared Mrs. Anders, who expressed how thankful she is for each REACH student.
Congratulations, students! We can not wait to see all of the many things you accomplish.
We would also like to thank J.T. and Sandi Rowell who make this scholarship possible. Their son, Zach Rowell, grew tremendously academically, but in confidence because of the REACH team at Hartfield, specifically with Melissa Cole.
