The Hartfield Aqua Hawks: Interest Letter
Hartfield Athletics is looking forward to another successful year for the Hartfield Aqua Hawks! Since year one, the Hartfield Aqua Hawks have excelled competitively, finishing in the top three multiple times in the history of the program. With a new head coach at the helm, the Aqua Hawks antipate another year of continual growth.
The Aqua Hawks are excited to announce Liza Sammons as their new Head Coach. Liza has many years of experience in the club circuit with her daughters being some of the premier swimmers in the nation. Liza is a full time staff member in our REACH department in the upper school and is excited to begin growing the program. She will be assisted by Thornburn McGee, former assistant coach from 2017-2019.
The Aqua Hawks season begins August 10th and will culminate with the MAIS State Swim Meet on Wednesday, September 16th (Location TBD) and a team dinner the following week. Practice will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week tentatively from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (coaches are still working to secure a consistent pool and time for practice) for elementary swimmers and 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm for middle and high school swimmers. Due to COVID restrictions, we will conduct two intersquad meets on August 22nd & August 29th. If you plan to participate in the program, please save those dates in advance and more detailed information will be released once we secure a pool.
All interested athletes in grades 1-12 should be able to swim one lap freestyle in the pool and have a current physical before joining the team. We are excited to continue building a program and continue to provide great experiences and opportunities to further the mission of our school through athletics.
