Hartfield Football Highlights: The Vet and Community Bank Field

The Hartfield Hawks have had a momentous season so far.

Football season signaled the beginning of a long-awaited return to “normal” for many Hawk fans. Though many events have been limited, large outdoor gatherings have continued with safety measures in place, and we have been able to begin our football season even in the midst of challenges.
With the season opener upon us and Community Bank Field still undergoing renovations, an unexpected opportunity came our way in the form of Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium (“The Vet”). In compliance with state mandates, the Hartfield Hawks gathered to cheer on the Hawks in a prized Mississippi sports landmark.

Kicking off football season in a time-honored stadium was meaningful for many. “The game at The Vet was an amazing experience,” said new football coach and Elementary Athletic Director Cody Saxton. “To see our athletes, boys and girls, compete and display Hawk pride in a stadium that once housed Hall of Fame football players was something I will never forget. To know my dad watched Archie Manning and other great athletes play at the Vet, then having him watch my brother and I coach on the same field, is so cool. And finally, to coach in that venue and run on the field with my wife and child will be remembered forever!”

After an impressive win at The Vet against St. Aloysius, the Hawks hosted their second home game here at home. This time, at kickoff, the boys faced their opponents on a brand new turf field - Community Bank Field!

The unveiling of Community Bank Field has been an exciting experience for all of the Hawk fans. Thanks to the support of valued partners and after months of construction, the Hartfield community has been able to enjoy our new field with a renewed sense of school spirit. The Hawks will be able to enjoy this field for many years to come, and we can’t wait for all the memories that are sure to be made by all. Stay tuned for more improvements, including an updated track and other exciting additions to come!

If The Vet game and the introduction of Community Bank Field are any indication of what is to come this season, we are hopeful for what is ahead. “We have a great group of kids that are extremely talented. The guys truly care about this school and this program,” said Coach Saxton. “..this season is going to be a building block in the story of this program.”

Thank you to all the Hawk fans for supporting all of our teams this year, and Let’s Go Hawks!
