Ella Rankin is the MAIS 4A Cross Country State Champion!

Hartfield seventh grader Ella Rankin made history this year by securing the State Champion title in this year's MAIS AAAA Cross Country State Championship. Cinching an impressive finish to an impressive season, this athlete certainly represents the best and brightest of what Hartfield Athletics has to offer.

After winning her first race of the season on August 31st at the Jackson Prep Invitational, by dominating the 3000m race with a time of 12:51:75, Ella maintained a remarkable season-long performance. For example, in 5k events she had one 3rd place finish (Clinton Arrow Invitational) along with two 2nd place finishes (Northwest Rankin Invitational & Kirk Academy Invitational), running against top-level Varsity athletes.

Ella saved her best race of the season for the final event, the MAIS Overall Meet on October 20th.  Ellas finished first out of 87 runners and was crowned the MAIS AAAA State Champion.  During this race she set a PR time of 19:58:89.

Well done and congratulations, Ella!
