Letter from Coach Steven Makamson to Boys Basketball Families

Parents,

What a great year of basketball we’ve had! It was a season we will always remember, and banquet information will be coming soon.

This morning I met with our team and shared my decision to step away from basketball coaching in this capacity.  After much prayer and consideration throughout the season, it has become clear that the timing is right for me to make some personal changes for my family and myself. There are some business opportunities that I am going to pursue, along with growing my hunting business in the Delta.

I have so many incredible memories from my sixteen years in coaching and especially these last seven at Hartfield.  This past season ranks in the top, and that is attributed to the terrific players, supportive parents and fans,  and coaching staff that we’ve had.  I can’t thank you, your sons, and our administration enough for allowing me the opportunity to lead this basketball program.  I am very proud of what Hartfield Basketball has come to mean in our league, in our community, and in our state.

My interest in Hartfield is much deeper than only my role as a coach.  There is no other school in the state that I’d rather have to educate and influence my children, so we have no intention of changing schools or relocating.  The Mako Family will still be cheering on the Hawks, alongside you, for years to come.

Again, thank you for the memories, as they will never be forgotten.

God Bless and Go Hawks!

Coach Mako
