Annellise Bell is a Mississippi Christian Leader of the Future, and Here's Why
To Annellise Bell, being a Christian means standing up for what you believe in. Soon-to-graduate senior with a signed commitment to play collegiate-level soccer, Annellise has earned a venerated spot on Mississippi Christian Living’s list of 30 “Christian Leaders of the Future”.
High School Principal Jim DeLaughter describes Annellise as a “bright young lady with a kind, gentle spirit that easily lifts those that are around her. Her faith in the Lord comes through in the care and concern she has for others.” Above all, Annellise desires for people to see Christ at work in her life. “I want people to look at me and not only say I am different but see something different in me. Although I am far from perfect and struggle daily, Jesus still loves me,” she says.
In her second year at Hartfield, Annellise has described her experience as a Hartfield Hawk as incredibly formative. A Captain of this year’s State Championship soccer team, Annellise has had ample opportunity to grow as a leader and friend. “Hartfield Soccer brought me some of my lifelong best friends. I was so fortunate to not only be their captain but get the opportunity to know each and every one of them,” said Annellise.
Along with her teammates, Annellise has been greatly influenced as a Christian leader by Varsity Soccer coach, Jake Benton. “(Coach Benton) made sure to push me not only on the field but also in my faith. He taught me more than just soccer, but most importantly what it means to be a leader. I am so fortunate to have had a coach like Coach Benton and I can not thank him enough for all that he has done for me.”
In turn, Jake Benton had nothing but praises for this student leader and State Champion soccer player. "Annellise leads by example and is a vocal leader. She was the positive reinforcement on the field every day during practice and in games," says Benton.
He continues, "Annellise absolutely hilarious and her laughter is contagious. When she speaks, it may come off as shy at first, but the people around her listen and are engaged. She has great charisma about her and that allows others to feel comfortable and confident. This is a phenomenal award and I'm proud and happy that she was selected."
Set to play soccer at Co-Lin Community College this fall, Annellise plans to major in Nursing and is excited to continue doing what she lives while remaining close in proximity to her friends and family.
Though she has only just begun in her journey as a “Christian Leader of the Future,” Annellise will carry lessons learned here at Hartfield along with her: “Hartfield Academy has played a dramatic role in my personal faith by giving me such amazing role models that show me daily what it means to live for Jesus.”
Hartfield Academy is fully accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the MidSouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of independent Schools (SAIS).
