This year, Hartfield Academy’s school theme, First Things First, comes from Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Our 3rd-grade students recently brought this verse to life through a creative class project. Each student colored a hand with one finger raised to symbolize putting Godfirst and filled their artwork with ways they could live that out in their own lives.
Students wrote things like:
“One way I can put God first is by praying to Him every morning and night.”
“I can put Him first by telling people about God.”
“I can show my love for God through giving to others.”
“I can obey my parents and do chores without being asked.”
“I can love others by helping those in need.”
“I can read my Bible every morning and listen to Christian music on my way to school.”
At the bottom of each page, they wrote out Matthew 6:33 as a daily reminder to keep God first, always.
Through this project, 3rd graders are learning that putting First Things First begins with seeking God in every moment, from morning prayers and worship songs to kindness, obedience, and love for others.
Hartfield Academy is fully accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the MidSouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of independent Schools (SAIS).
