Welcome Back, Hawks: Reflecting Back on the First Day of School
Can you believe we are already three weeks into our new school year? What a full few weeks it has been! Each day has been filled with activity and excitement as we enter new beginnings, new connections, and endless possibilities.
On the first day, students were greeted with smiling faces and big waves from the faculty in the carpool line upon arrival on August 9th. New backpacks were shown off, summer projects were in hand and our senior class kicked off their day with a special celebration! The first day always comes with excitement, and you could feel the energy from the students who were excited to see each other again!
We also got to welcome some new faces on campus! Our K3 students, dressed in their new, favorite school uniforms, began their very first day of school at East Campus. Some excited to wave goodbye and a few afraid of what is ahead, but every student was loved on by teachers and ended the day so excited to come back! When asked what was most exciting about her experience with the first day for little ones, Lisa Lucas, Lower School Head, said "providing the parents the peace of knowing their kids are in a loving, caring and safe place".
As the school year continues, it is our goal to bring that same 'first day' amount of enthusiasm into each day, knowing that we are fortunate to pour our time, energy, and efforts into this special school.
We leave you with some words of encouragement from Mrs. Lucas as we continue the school year:
"Look for the many good things that are happening each day, because there are many! Yes, there are real issues we are facing in our world, but don't let them overshadow the goodness of God all around us."
As you, also, reflect on the first day of school and the busy weeks since, we encourage you to thank God for His protection and guidance as we have navigated this beginning together. Let’s live each day with excitement like it’s the First Day of School!
