Hartfield Academy Boys Soccer Team Wins State Championship

Hartfield Academy’s Boys Soccer Team competed in the MAIS Division II State Championship on Saturday, February 22nd against Washington School. This is the second state soccer title of the year for coach Jake Benton, with the Girls Soccer team also bringing home a State Championship title in Fall 2019.
This was a hard-won victory to finish a notable season for the Hartfield Hawks. With an overall record of 13-6-1 and a 6-0 district record, Coach Jake Benton is proud of not only the team’s performance, but their strength as a team. “All season long, we put in many conditioning hours focusing on mental strength,” Benton shared. “The greatest satisfaction was seeing [the team] push through adversity and being rewarded for all the hard work and grit each player put into tough training sessions. The magic of this team is really just good, old-fashioned hard work.”
Being a young starting lineup of one junior, five sophomores, three freshmen, and two eighth graders, Hartfield Athletics is excited to see how the team continues to grow in the years to come. Standout players include captains Zach Sorey (#10, Junior), and Blake Primos (#7, Sophomore), as well as freshmen Gage Sorey (#23) and Kaden Archer (#13), who were essential to the team’s success in the final game as well as the season as a whole.
Hartfield Academy is fully accredited by both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the MidSouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the Southern Association of independent Schools (SAIS).
