How Hartfield Is Partnering With Parents

Have you ever wondered why a Christian worldview is important in your home? Our Spiritual Life team is putting our mission statement into action with our new Hartfield Parent Institute. Hartfield’s mission states “Hartfield Academy is a Christ-centered, college preparatory school which exists to help families prepare their young people academically, emotionally and spiritually to pursue the next stages of their lives with a passion for learning, for putting others ahead of self, and for the living and active Jesus Christ.” With the new Parent Worldview Classes, Hartfield is able to fulfill the mission of helping families prepare their young people.
This school year, 35 Hartfield parents successfully completed the Parent Worldview Class. In this course, special attention is given to understanding a Christian worldview as it pertains to 5 of life’s biggest questions: How did we get here? Why are we here? What went wrong? What’s the solution? Where are we headed?

Dr. Tyler Groves, Director of Spiritual Formation, shared his reason behind the beginning of the Hartfield Parent Institute. “Our Covenant Christian model of education is what motivated me to start the Hartfield Parent Institute. At Hartfield, we understand that God has designed the home to be the place of greatest influence in the passing of faith from one generation to the next. We are honored that parents trust us to partner with them in that endeavor, and we want to provide every opportunity possible for the family, school, and church to work together to see students fulfill their God-given purpose. Hartfield Parent Institute is a major way that we fulfill our mission and vision as a school.”, shared Tyler. Hartfield truly has the vision to see life change in our students and partnering with parents is our greatest blessing!

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a]  Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” which is a section of verses our class referenced throughout the entire year. Spending time reading and studying these verses will allow you to be intentional about the conversations and priorities in your home.

If you have read this far, you may be wondering how you can get involved in next year’s class. When talking with Dr. Groves, he shared with us what he would want to be shared with parents who are interested - “The Hartfield Parent Institue will equip you to understand the basic foundations of a Christian worldview. It will help you understand some major events and cultural trends that are shaping our students. Most importantly, it will encourage and equip you to have a plan and be intentional with the spiritual formation of your family.” Be on the lookout for further specifics on when and how you can sign up. We hope you will join us!
