Your Hartfield Boys Soccer Team: 2022-2023 MAIS D1 Boys Soccer State Champions

The Hartfield Boys Soccer Team came ready to compete for the State Title on Monday, February 20th, and left the field as winners of the MAIS D1 Boys Soccer State Championship! Led by head coach, Jake Benton, the boys came out victorious with a final score of 6-4 in overtime!
Our boys showed hard work and dedication throughout the season and it was such a special time watching their hard work pay off!

When asked about the team’s confidence going into the championship win, Coach Benton states “Once we scored the first goal I knew we had a chance but I also knew we were going to have to play together and harder than we ever had because this Prep team is incredible. They are a fantastic team and can really destroy you mentally because they’re just so strong on and off the ball.” He went on the share, “As long as the clock is running there’s still hope. Same in life, as long as we have breath there’s hope to seek Christ and be saved.” Coach Benton couldn’t have said it better. These boys used everything they had to pull out a win!

As far as seasons go, this team competed with an incredible season record: 13-5.

“Hard to win, Easy to lose, Be hard to beat” was something this team referenced throughout the year. This last game proved to be a tough one, but our boys stuck it out and pushed through. “I am beyond proud and happy for the boys to see them persevere through so much during the final. They had to overcome the emotions of defeat at 3-0 down, they could’ve easily folded and accepted defeat but by staying mentally tough they came out as victors. Same with the coaching staff. The coaches were tremendous with how much energy and positivity they displayed. Staying positive is infectious and the staff was just incredible from start to finish.” shared Coach Benton.

This day is a day that will go down in Hawk history!
