Lower School Teacher Feature: Katy Crump

Our October Lower School #TeacherFeature is Katy Crump, K3 Assistant Teacher!

A Teacher Feature highlights one Upper School and one Lower School teacher each month as a goal to get to know a few exceptional teachers on campus! Highlighting students on social media is pretty easy to do. Their accomplishments are frequently on display during the school day. But what about our teachers? They are amazing too, and we want you to get to know them better!
Meet Mrs. Crump!

Why do you choose to work at Hartfield?
When I interviewed 10 years ago Hartfield instantly felt like home. Everyone I met was so kind and welcoming. The environment is amazing, so filled with the love of Jesus poured out by everyone.

What do you love most about teaching?
Watching my kids grow and learn, master skills, and how they hide God’s word in their hearts.

What do you love about Hartfield?
Everyone steps up to fill in when needed, no questions asked, and with a smile on their face. We have such a supportive administration.

What is your favorite part of the school day?
Morning circle time - the kids take turns telling us if they are “thumbs up or down” and why they are feeling that way. It’s a great chance for them to share their feelings and for us to know if extra attention is needed that day.

What is something most people don’t know about you?
I lived in Washington DC after college and worked at a major hospital in the Child Life department then worked at a school on the grounds of the National Cathedral.

What is your favorite bible verse?
Psalm 143:8

Why is the above verse your favorite?
Every morning is a new beginning, starting fresh, no matter what happened in the past God’s love never fails.
