SOAR Students Serve Through Handmade Blankets

Students in the SOAR classes in 3rd through 6th grade recently served through a hands-on mission project supporting Shower Power, an organization dedicated to serving people experiencing homelessness. Shower Power is about following Jesus by bringing hospitality to the streets and showing people they are seen, valued, and loved.
As students worked together to make blankets, they learned about homelessness and discussed the importance of helping those less fortunate than themselves. Mrs. Reid, SOAR teacher, encouraged students to be the hands and feet of Jesus, serving others in meaningful and practical ways.

Before the blankets were completed, students prayed over each one, asking that the recipients would not only experience physical warmth but also feel the warmth of Jesus’ love and the care poured into each blanket. Through this project, students were reminded that small acts of service can help show Christ’s love to our community.
